There are various ways to license Microsoft products.
When buying a product in retail selling (box item) it is an FPP license (Full Package Product). When buying a new computer the software is usually preinstalled and licensed after the DSP (Delivery Service Partner) or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) model.
Companies and organisations, which buy a larger number of licenses, have quantity licensing models at their disposal.
DSP license
Products with DSP license (Delivery Service Partner) are intended for selling together with the computer.
OEM license
Products with the OEM license (Original Equipment Manufacturer) can be found preinstalled on new computers designed by major software manufacturers.
OLP license
Products with the OLP license (Open license pack) are intended for companies with five or more PCs. When ordering these licences it is important to list all information about the end user, because this license is written out to a specific legal entity.
OV license
Microsoft Open Value is a premium volume licensing offer available under the Open License family. Designed for organizations with as few as five computers, Open Value offers simpler license tracking, greater control over the software upgrade cycle, and better software cost management.
EA license
The EA license (Enterprise Agreement) is included for licensing companies with 250 or more computers. It includes products, which make up a standard ‘Microsoft platform’ (MS Windows Upgrade, MS Office Professional and MS core CAL however other products may be included).
School license
The AA license (School/Academic License) is a contract intended for licensing academic institutions with at least 100 PCs. It is signed for a period of one or three years. It includes licenses for (MS Windows Upgrade, MS Office Professional and MS core CAL however other products may be included).
FPP license
Products with the FPP license (Full Package Product) are packages, which anyone can buy at the local computer and software shop. They include a setup medium, an instruction guide, a license contract (EULA) and a registration card. This license is intended for private users and companies with less than five PCs.
